“Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry Bosom-Room)”
By Alexandra Carter

Double-sided piece suspended in space or installed to wall

This is a double-sided painting made on translucent drafting film. Depending on which side you are viewing, different elements are revealed. It can be installed like a traditional painting against a wall, or hung in space so that both sides are viewable.

The artist references figures from Ancient  Mythology as well as agriculture–specifically, her family’s cranberry farm. “Vaccinium Macrocarpon” is the latin name for the strain or cranberry indigenous to North America. “Bosom-Room” is a translated version of the “Busenstube,”a made-up word used by German poet Unica Zürn, which the artist refers to often in her titles.
