It’s rare that a work of art draws you into an environment that’s so immersive and distinctly evolved that it almost becomes a living thing unto itself. The Psychedelic Walk-in Installation by artist Laurie Shapiro is a 360-degree cavern of psyched-up psychedelia writ large in textiles, which Shapiro spent more than 1,000 hours painting, sewing and imbuing with nothing less than a shard of her own spirit. Within the cave all month, the gallery presents programs of yoga, dance, music and other moments of community that present the potential of mass transmogrification through the power of art.
